Very beautiful 19th century gilded wood frame

After starting his career as a lawyer, Gaston Guignard devoted himself to painting after the war of 1870. He exhibited portraits, landscapes and animals at the Salon from 1874. He received a medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1889 for his painting “Au verger”. His works are today kept in numerous museums including the Orsay Museum, the Bordeaux Museum of Fine Arts and the Evreux Museum.
