    Biography:

     

    François-Étienne Musin, born on October 4, 1820, in Ostend and died in Saint Josse Ten Noode on October 24, 1888, was a 19th-century Belgian marine painter.

     

    A student of François Bossuet, François Musin participated in numerous exhibitions in Europe and the United States from 1840 until the end of his life and received several awards and honorable mentions.

     

    He was the father of Auguste Musin, also a marine painter.

     

    Honors:

     

    He was awarded Knight of the Order of Leopold.

    A street behind the Botanical Garden of Brussels was named in his honor, the rue Musin in Saint Josse Ten Noode.

    The Museum of Fine Arts in Ostend organized a major exhibition dedicated to François Musin, titled "François Musin, painter of marines."
