Charles Euphrasie Kuwwaseg was a student of Durand-Brager and Eugène Isabey. But he was first a long-distance sailor before becoming an official painter who exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1855. His works are today kept in numerous museums, notably at the Museum of Fine Arts in Rouen, Rennes and Fécamp.
