Jules-René Hervé, born in Langres on April 14, 1887, and died in the same city on November 13, 1981
Jules-René Hervé's father is a former seminarian. His uncle Jules Alfred Hervé is a drawing teacher. A student at the Diderot college in Langres (Haute-Marne), predisposed to drawing, then later to painting, Jules-René Hervé moved to Paris in 1908, where he continued his studies at the school of decorative arts. He exhibited for the first time at the Salon des artistes français in 1910.
Our painting is typical of Jules René Hervé's production, a style recognizable among all, a very particular touch, a Parisian view, the lively quays.
The palette in very specific blue-gray tones.
In the background, Notre Dame, in the barely sketched fog, attracts the eye.
