Figurative painter and engraver, Robert Savary was part of the “Young Painting”, also called the “Young Painters” of the New School of Paris or “Young Painting of the School of Paris”. A student of Maurice Brianchon at the Beaux-arts de Paris, he notably won the Casa de Velãquez prize in 1948 and the Rome prize in 1950.
Robert Savary, well known to the people of Grasse, for having painted the chapel of the white penitents, had a house in Magagnosc, but above all a very beautiful garden, with its palm tree which he painted on numerous occasions
Through its qualities of light, the work of Robert Savary is situated in a particular tradition of French painting, that of light painting, made of pleasure and radiance.
