Some people are insidiously nipped in the bud by destiny from childhood and never let go. He was born on April 24, 1934, so at the age of an octopus, he dragged his shoes between the easels of the Place du Tertre.
For Delval, there was soon only one thing obvious: he was born to paint, which led him to the Arts Déco, where he took the time to make his mark. He discovered his masters, in other words, those who gave him the most warmth and truth: Matisse and Bonnard.
And little by little, with age and maturity settling in both on his face and on his canvases, Robert became Delval, an assertive, solid painter, for whom color is a universe of celebration, vibration and music. He too, like musicians, proceeds by successive studies, watercolor, ink, before laying down on canvas the exact nuances of a colorful, shimmering vision, which he retains beyond the work a childhood freshness.
These landscapes are luminous, he's on the move. He's found his path, now all he has to do is follow it...
