A student of Lazare Bruandet, Philippe Budelot exhibited forest views between 1791 and 1829, mainly taken from Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Fontainebleau and the surrounding area of Paris. His compositions are animated by characters painted by Demay, Swébach or Taunay.
He was known for his sense of perspective, his finish, the drawing of woods and the softness of his tones and the work of chiaroscuro.
