Beautiful and large oil on canvas signed Charles Perron (1893-1958) representing the entrance of a village in early autumn.
Charles Perron trained at the École des Beaux-Arts de Nantes (1909-1913), then at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris (1913-1914 and 1919-1921). Between 1914 and 1919, not mobilized for health reasons, he held a teaching position in Nantes. He was awarded the second Grand Prix de Rome in 1921. From 1936 to 1945, he was curator of the Museum of Fine Arts in Nantes.
Here the artist creates a poetic work with soft lights evoking his affinity for nature and country scenes.
This landscape illustrates several houses with orange tiles, typical of the houses of the south of the Loire. Our gaze rests on the expanse of water with its luminous reflections contrasting with the autumnal colors of the vegetation and the houses.
Charles Perron creates shades and gradations, combining soft colors blended delicately. It emanates a feeling of calm and tranquility. Time is suspended.
This unique work includes the signature of the artist in the lower left and a plate centered in the lower part bearing the inscription: "Charles PERRON - PRIX DE ROME".
Surrounding the canvas, a magnificent gilded wood carved frame perfectly matches this bucolic scene. Rich in ornamentation, it presents stylized moldings and sculptures forming arabesques.
Charles Perron signs here a harmonious and nuanced work immortalizing a country scene with sensitivity.
