Biography: Maurice Charles Marie LE LIEPVRE exhibited at the Salon from 1877 to 1896. Born in Lille, died in Paris. Pupil of Dubuffe, Mazerolle, Harpignies and Laurens. Influenced by Pissarro, he made his Salon debut in 1879. Active in Paris.
Although Le Liepvre was a contemporary of the Impressionists, he followed in the footsteps of the Barbizon School painters, particularly Henri Harpignies (1819-1916), to whom he was close. The author of a few large-scale decors, he produced numerous studies inspired by the landscapes of the Loire Valley.
