He enrolled in the School of Fine Arts in Angers, then in those of Paris in the studio of Jean-Léon Gérôme in 1886. Bound by a long friendship with Renoir, he moved to Cagnes-sur -Sea and hardly conceals the influence of his work. Its forms, drowned in light, nevertheless retain a certain respect for classicism; his ambition is to combine the rigor of Ingres with the impressionist blend.
