    Probably preparatory to a large painting dated 1938 in the church of Sainte-Radegonde in Monnières, France (see last photo).

    Bibliography :

    Originally from Paris, he moved to Saint Nazaire, entered the Beaux-Arts de Rennes, then returned to Paris to join Benjamin Constat's studio at the Académie Julian, then that of Jean Paul Laurens at the Beaux-Arts de Paris.
    He won the Prix de Rome for painting in 1899 for Hercules between Vice and Virtue. In 1903, he was awarded a 2nd class medal. He exhibited at the Salon de la Société des Artistes Français, becoming a member in 1905. In 1907, he won the Prix Rosa Bonheur.

    In early 1910, he decorated a number of official buildings, including the Hôtel de Ville in Rennes (the works are now in the Musée des Beaux Arts).

    Many of his works can be found in museums such as Rennes, Orsay, ENSAB in Paris, BA in Nice, BA in Narbonne, BA in Nantes...
