He entered the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1827 and studied under Hersent2. He showed his work at the Salon in Lyon in 1833 and in Paris in 1835 and won a third class medal in 1844. He lived in Lyon2. He creates portraits of animals, particularly animals placed in landscapes or military scenes.
In 1849 he married Marie Caroline Pionin, a native of Claix, and bought the Château Delphinal there.
He died on February 12, 1870 in Versailles.
