Jacques Durand-Henriot:
born December 4, 1922 in Paris and died October 15, 1997 in Rennes is a French painter, engraver and designer.
In a poetic register, Durand Henriot's paintings often have as their theme the landscapes of Brittany, Normandy, Spain and Italy as well as scenes of horses in Deauville.
He was a student of Nicolas Untersteller at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. From 1952 to 1971, he was a professor, then from 1971 to 1988 director of the École régionale des Beaux-Arts in Rennes. He participated in numerous group exhibitions, in the provinces, obtaining various regional distinctions, as well as in Paris, at the Salon d'Automne (of which he had been a member since 1948), at the Salon du dessin et de la peinture à l'eau, and at the Salon de la Marine.
Since 1945, he exhibited individually, notably in 1950, 1951 (Paris, Seine gallery), 1952-1954 (Paris, Chardin gallery), 1955 to 1968 (Rennes, Jobbé-Duval gallery), 1989 (Rennes, retrospective in the salons of the town hall), 1991 (Le Faouët, retrospective at the Ursulines museum), etc.
