* Fernand Legout-Gérard (1856-1924):
In 1889, he broke with his employer, the Ministry of the Navy, to devote himself to painting. He appeared at the Société nationale and the Salon from 1889 to 1894 with canvases of Brittany, landscapes and scenes of fishermen's and sailors' lives, to which we can't deny the impressive mastery of nocturnal effects and shimmering colors in his pastels. Legout-Gérard has taken part in numerous international exhibitions. He is now one of the best-known painters of the "Concarneau group".
