Fortuné CAR 1905 / 1970:
Fortuné Car was born in 1905 in Marseille and died in 1970.
Famous Provençal artist, born into a family where painting is passed down from generation to generation.
In the 1930s, he took over the workshop of his uncle, a theater decorator.
This vast workshop allowed him to create sets and he then turned to easel painting.
He quickly found his way in the vein of Provencal painting, with his scenes of fishermen.
His strong and colorful painting enriched with a beautiful material born from his mastery of the brush and especially the knife.
His image as a painter of Provence was exported in particular to Canada where he was a member of the Royal Academy of Painting in Montreal.
