    Originally from Blois, Emile Vernon first studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Tours (First prize in drawing in 1888) before going to Paris where he was a student of William Bouguereau.
    Emile Vernon painted portraits of women and landscapes that are allegories in a style typical of the "Belle-Epoque" ("Spring", "The Flower Garden", "A Summer Rose").
