the heart of her work remains abstract and is part of the trend of lyrical abstraction to which she fully adheres. His plastic research in the matter began in 1945 with the "Blue Square" in particular, or "time and place". The abstraction which characterizes his work unfolds in multiple directions: geometric, gestural abstraction, monochromy... It goes through periods and pictorial research. In constant quest for renewal, she uses black spray paint and the stencil technique from the 1970s, allowing Francis Parent to notice "the series of her Grids, used like stencils through which the projection of bomb gives birth to a mysterious world of allusive figures and diffuse poetry” We thus observe in all of his work real kinships of abstract landscapeism with Olivier Debré, Léon Zack, Pierre Tal coat, Elvire Jan....
Strength and temperament, refusal of the easy way, refusal to please and incessant renewal characterize the work of Solange Bertrand: what places her among the great creators of our time, evokes Francis Parent, is that "she will have searched all her life during unknown processes, experimented with new materials, discovered and used new means.” Her extremely marked temperament will gradually distance her from contemporary art networks, reducing her to a certain confidentiality.

Deprived of descendants, she continued the project of transmitting her work and heritage to the foundation that bears her name. The latter was created in 2001 and obtained public utility recognition. It develops a cultural project highlighting the work of the painter by ensuring the promotion of contemporary art to the general public or targeted audiences; its headquarters is in Longwy.
The work of Solange Bertrand is preserved at the Picasso Museum in Antibes, at the National Museum of Modern Art in Paris, the Museum of Fine Arts in Nice, in Nancy, the Museum of the Cour d'Or in Metz...... ..
