Max Papart, born in Marseille on December 19, 1911 and died in Paris on August 29, 1994, was a French painter, engraver, illustrator and collagist. His work is marked by a certain sweetness of life, a discreet irony and a great sense of plastic beauty.
In the second half of the 50s, he met CESAR, Goetz, Atlan and Clavé, artists who had chosen the South of France. Max Papart evolved from a post-Cubist language to an expression borrowing certain plastic reasoning from abstraction. Lithographer, engraver and painter, he often uses mixed media and collage techniques, which he handles with dexterity.
