He studied at the Academy of Arts in Tbilisi from 1922 to 1926, the same year (1926) he founded a private art school in Tbilisi, Georgia.
In 1928 he moved to France and in 1933 had his first solo exhibition at Galerie Speranza in Paris.
In 1934, Felix Varlamashivili (Varla) married the Danish painter Zire Binder
Between 1948 and 1952, the artist lived and worked in Argentina.
In 1952, Félix Varlamashivili (Varla) returned to Paris, where he died at the age of 83 on February 6, 1986.
Felix Varlamishvili (Varla) was buried on the territory of the Georgian cemetery in Leuville-sur-Orge, France and as his will Zire Binder donated 10 paintings by Varla to the Museum of Fine Arts of Georgia
