Elizabeth ADAMS was born in 1924 and died in 2012. She was the wife of painter Pierre Gastaud.
Arrived in Paris in 1946 and frequented Jean Dupas' studio and Mc Avoy's at La Grande Chaumiere. Became an auditor at Fernand Leger, where she met the Greek artists Macris and Abner. She leaves Paris for Antibes and discovers the works of De Stael, recently deceased, at the Musee Picasso. She painted a series of canvases directly inspired by the port of Antibes. The theme of seagulls (our painting) is addressed.
The lesson of Geer Van Velde, whom she admired, found an equivalent in her sensibility.
