Born in Poland, David Lan-Bar had to flee the pogroms and left for Jerusalem in 1934. His master was Miron Sima at the Hebrew University, before settling in Tel Aviv. 'In 1948 he decided to broaden his artistic horizon. and arrived in Paris, then the world capital of art, and remained there until his death in 1987. The figurative elements gradually disappeared in favor of a work essentially centered on the superimposition of colors and the density of the paste, practicing a painting related to abstract impressionism.
It has been exhibited in museums in Paris (National Museum of Modern Art), Turin, Tel-Aviv, Haifa, New York, Chicago (Art Institute of Chicago), Montreal (Museum of Fine Arts), Detroit ( Detroit Institute of Arts), at the Biennale de Menton, at the Biennale de Sao Paulo (in 1961) and presented in Paris, at the Salon des Réalités Nouvelles (from 1959 to 1963), The Museum of Vesoul in 1988 and the Israeli Museum de Paris in 1993-1994 devoted retrospective exhibitions to him The Denise Breteau, Katia Granoff, Kriegel and Lélia Mordoch galleries exhibited his work.
