Hinge on paper 92x65cm dated 93. oak frame.
Parallel to his itinerary as a musician, Daniel Humair pursues his vocation as a painter. Self-defining his painting as "narrative abstraction", he has built a coherent work, which manifests his passion for painting and his knowledge of art history.

Daniel Humair paints forms that are abstract, or that resemble the forms of the everyday environment, those that we forget to look at or that we no longer see. Banal forms in such a way, which the artist places according to different balances and power relations in a space defined by the canvas or the paper. Daniel Humair works quickly and in an improvised manner (in his own way of a jazz drummer) according to distinct phases: painting and tracing on one support, transferring to another support using the monotype process, then highlighting chosen forms. Each step is itself a creative step: movement of the line during the first phase, then action and pressure exerted at the time of the transfer, and finally choice of colors and details to organize the balance of forms in space. These shapes spring forth with great force, in paintings that give an illusion of depth of field. This illusion is given by the play of the shapes between them, the colors and the “scratched” flat areas (they are not smooth) and not by the texture, because Daniel Humair does not work the material in thickness. The exhibitions of the Museums of Sens and Coutances in 2007 show about fifty works on paper and some canvases created during the last ten years, as well as an Aubusson tapestry from a cartoon by Daniel Humair.
