An authentic and signed piece of French military history, this cuirass back of the Royal Cuirassiers dates from the reign of Charles X (1824-1830).

This authentic signed cuirass was made at the famous Manufacture royale de Klingenthal in Alsace, founded in 1730 under the reign of Louis XV. The first French factory dedicated to the production of bladed weapons, Klingenthal was renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship in the manufacture of swords, sabres and cuirasses.
In 1829, under the direction of the Coulaux brothers, Klingenthal was the exclusive supplier of steel plates for cuirasses, intended for the French army's heavy cavalry, notably the cuirassiers. The signature on this cuirass back confirms its authenticity and official manufacture for the State.
