Beautiful Shako from an officer cadet at the Special Military School of Saint Cyr, mid-20th century period. Covered in blue cloth and black leather and in a truncated conical shape, it is decorated on the front with a copper plaque embossed with a flaming Grenade and the title of Special Military School. At the top, it is decorated with a large plume of rooster feathers, red below and white above.

The cassowary is the emblematic headdress of the cadets of the Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan schools. An emblematic and world-famous hairstyle, the Cassowary was adopted on August 24, 1855 by Emperor Napoleon III who ordered the Saint-Cyrians to wear a red and white plume on their shakos, the colors of the British royal house, in order to honor the visit of Queen Victoria.

Very good general condition.
