Ceremonial shield in the shape of a domed cast iron shield modeled on that of Henry II of France. Its relief decoration depicts the victory at Cannae of Hannibal and the Carthaginians over the Romans which took place in 216 BC.
The perimeter is decorated with friezes of medallions, weapon trophies and foliage. In the upper center, the head of the goddess Diana, on the lower part, the head of an ibex.
