    Machete and its Sheath called Pha
    Likely Akha Ulo culture, Thailand
    20th century
    Iron, wood, and plant fibers
    Total length: 55.5 cm; W: 12 cm
    Machete length: 54.5 cm

    Machete with an iron blade marked at the butt, fitted with a cylindrical wooden handle with seven braided plant fiber rings. Its flat, rectangular sheath, slightly flared at the ends, is made of thin, folded bamboo blades.

    Bibliography:
    A similar example is preserved at the Musée du Quai Branly.
