    Japanese SWORD, Wakisashi

    Steel, wood, iron, lacquer, silk, brass, copper, shakudo, gold
    Length of the cutting edge (Nagasa): 27.9 cm
    Nakago: 9.2 cm

    Blade of Shobu Tsukuri type, Mune Hikushi, tempering line of Notare type.
    Nakago of Funa Gata type (boat hull), Kuri Jiri or Hira Yamagata (round), signed and engraved with two grooves.
    Copper habaki.
    Scabbard (saya) in wood, covered with lacquer.
    Koigushi, Kojiri and Kurigata in buffalo horn.
    Sageo in green silk.
    Kogatana with Kotsuka in copper representing a rider on a bridge crossing a turbulent river where a man fights with a dragon, all enhanced with gold.
    Tsuka in wood, covered with shagreen.
    Iron tsuba representing a raptor with brass eyes overlooking a Japanese macaque taking a bath in the Onsen, a natural hot spring, enhanced with copper and brass.
    This scene probably refers to the legend in which these birds were sent by the samurai to look for a piece of sun, which once melted in the snow, would offer the monkeys a source of heat.
    Menuki representing two dragons in brass.
    Fuchi in copper covered with shakudo, engraved with several leaves, probably maple.
    Kashira in buffalo horn.
    Seppa in copper, signed.
