    COURT SWORD of the ARENBERG FAMILY
    Germany, Old Monarchy, 18th century
    Iron, steel and gold
    Total length : 98,5 ; Blade length : 80 cm

    Steel frame with bas-relief decoration in blackened steel on a gold background, guard branch with foliage corollas, cruise decorated with a trophy of arms, donkey step and quillon ending in an acanthus leaf in blackened steel. Spherical pommel featuring an antique helmet and trophies of arms, silver filigree fuse, silver braided ferrules. Bivalve keyboard decorated with trophies of arms, musical instruments and helmets in the antique style.
    Blade with colichemarde, the heel richly decorated with a gilded scroll on a blued background which is reversed on the distal part in a blued ornamentation on a gold background. Original scarlet cloth tie, wooden scabbard covered with light skin, steel trimmings with gold background decorated with foliage in blackened steel.
