Claude Galle delivered an identical pair in 1808 for the Château de Compiègne and for Le garde meuble (Mobilier National). A pair was delivered by the merchant Darrac in 1809 for the bedroom of the Empress's apartment in the Palais Rohan in Strasbourg.

A masterpiece for lovers of art and history, an ode to antique beauty, the gilding is richly detailed, and the double patina further enhances the effect.
