Important Pair of Cherub Bronze Wall Lights

Napoleon III period


Important and Splendid Pair of Wall Lights in Gilt Bronze with Two Patinas. These represent a Cherub in Bronze with Brown Patina seated on a Mount holding a Golden Branch symbolizing Victory or Light. This Cherub is mounted on a Mythological Creature, a Dragon spreading its Wings.

These Sconces with Two Arms of Light Terminating in Frosted Glass Torches. Each arm decorated with floral motifs and foliage. Their bases richly decorated with flowers, garlands and sculpted heads. They are adorned with a row of crystals in the lower part, capturing and reflecting the light. Electrified and drilled for fixing.

Rare pieces of very fine craftsmanship, embodying refinement and elegance. Richly carved and chiselled. Very fine proportions. Very decorative, probably from a Hotel Particulier, Grand Salon, Salle de Réception.
