A pair of Louis XVI style ormolu sconces with quivers circa 1880

An elegant, decorative pair of two-armed quiver sconces in finely chiseled bronze and beautifully gilded. They are beautifully decorated with a classic Louis XVI ribbon bow supporting a twisted fluted quiver filled with flowers, the shafts ending in Acanthus leaves.

Beautiful French work in the Louis XVI style, circa 1880, borrowing from the great bronze masters of the 18th century.

These sconces are to be compared with the model with three arms of light preserved in the Royal Palace of Pavlovsk in Russia, possibly part of the orders of Maria-Feodorovna and Paul 1st of Russia, during their visit to Paris under the name of Count and Countess of the North in 1783. Also similar to a pair in the Château de Moncley (Doubs).

Sizes: H 21.25 In - W 14.56 In - D 7.08 In.

Our pair of sconces are in fine original condition, with beautiful gilding.

Electrification to European or American standards on request. False candles in opaline.
