Théodore Deck (1823-1891) is a French ceramist who worked for major princely or imperial German sponsors at the start of his career. In the years 1840-1850, he worked for various manufacturers of pottery and earthenware. In 1858, the Deck brothers set up their ceramics business and produced numerous shaped pieces. He exhibited his creations at various international fairs and exhibitions and eventually became Director of the Manufacture de Sèvres in 1887.
The turquoise blue, close to the color of the porcelain of the lamps, will become his signature and is still called “Bleu Deck” today.
