Born in 1904, Italian designer Romeo Rega was one of many designers of the 1970s to combine modernism and glamour in their furniture designs. Rega epitomized this style and his brand is estimated to have been launched on December 31, 1969. It produced lighting fixtures, chairs, tables and display cases, identified by the double “R” logo until 1981, when it ceased production. Although little is known about his personal and professional life, Rega’s legacy is enduring, particularly due to the arrival of his designs in vintage auctions and his popularity with collectors.

Rega’s furniture is characterized by geometric and reduced forms. His designs are almost always gilded, chromed, or plated in brass, adding the elegance and charm that Rega is known for to sleek, modernist pieces. While there is little verifiable information, some sources claim that Rega worked with famed designers Willy Rizzo and the prolific Gabriella Crespi, due to the similar aesthetics of all three designers.
