    Founded in 1862 by Frédéric Barbier and Stanislas Fenestre under the name of "Barbier et Fenestre", it evolved into F. Barbier et Cie (1887-1893), F. Barbier et Cie Successeurs (1888), then Barbier et Bénard in 1889 to adopt its definitive name of Barbier, Bénard et Turenne, or BBT, at the beginning of the 20th century.
