France, faïencerie de Parpeçay (Indre), large, superb square-section lamp base in cracked earthenware decorated on all four sides with Chinese ideograms. These ideograms are judiciously presented within a circle, itself contained within a square with rounded edges; creating a gentle harmony of lines. An atypical luminaire whose design makes it suitable for all types of interiors. Good condition, except for normal wear and tear. No dents or cracks. Height 30 cm to base of socket (34.3 cm to top of socket). Width per side 22.7 cm.
