Galerie Georgette Art Nouveau presents a magnificent 1930s-era lamp created by the Fabrique des Émaux de Longwy. The lamp is in earthenware, decorated with enamels circled in relief and depicting a jungle landscape. The combination of enamel, jungle motif and color makes for a fascinating object. The lamp is signed by the decorator Maurice Paul Chevallier . This model was produced in an edition of 150, of which this lamp is number 5. All these details can be found on the back of the lamp base. Photos attached.
MP Chevallier took over as artistic director of the faïencerie et émaux de Longwy in 1931, creating numerous models, with the jungle remaining one of the most popular.
The lamp works perfectly and is in excellent condition. It measures 37 cm high, including the electric mount.
A very beautiful, superbly decorative and rare object.
