A very fine pair of ormolu candelabra featuring winged Victories with a patina finish.
Above their heads, they wear a wreath of flowers from which three finely chased horns of plenty emerge, acting as light arms.
These candelabras appear in the inventory of the Garde-Meuble de Rambouillet, the Tuileries, the Elysée, the Palais-Royal and the Hôtel des Pyramides. Marie-France Dupuy-Baylet: "Les bronzes du mobilier national", page 256 (see photo).
We also find a pair signed "Thomire à Paris", with a quadrangular base, on page 331 of the first volume of Ottomeyer and Pröschel's Vergoldete Bronzen (see photo).
Very fine condition, magnificent original gilding, cleaned.
Attributed to Pierre-Philippe THOMIRE (1751-1843).
Empire period.
Height 60 cm
As with all my art objects and furniture, I take great care to offer them at a very low expert estimate.
This pair of candelabras was photographed in daylight. So you can appreciate them as they really are.
