Pair of bronze and brass mercury-gilt candlesticks or torches, Empire period circa 1810-1811, attributable to Claude Galle.

Our candlesticks are very similar to the simple models commissioned by the Imperial furniture guard for the secondary apartments of the Château de Fontainebleau, "in the form of a quiver with molted (molded) ornaments in matte-gilded bronze", and share many of the same details and finishes found on other identified Claude Galle productions, making this attribution highly probable.

This model is distinguished by its sobriety and excellent craftsmanship. It is composed of 9 independent pieces.

The original gilding is worn, with traces of chasing at the bottom, confirming the high quality of the design.
