Rare and imposing pair of "à la financière" candlesticks in solid Swiss silver, Bossard* goldsmith's hallmark, shaft with six ringed barrels, on a wide round molded base, from the second half of the 19th century.

Son of Johann Caspar Balthasar, goldsmith. After an apprenticeship with his father, he completed his training in Geneva, Paris, London and the USA (Cincinnati, New York), before opening a gold and silver workshop in Lucerne with a European reputation. Collector of antiques. Distinctions in Zurich (1883) and Nuremberg (1885), gold medal at the Paris Universal Exhibition (1889).
