Pair of torchlight candlesticks in golden bronze (chiseled bronze) in matte and shiny. On a round base, the smooth shaft is finished with human feet and topped with three antique-style female heads supporting the binet. Our candle holders are entirely made of bronze (no brass part) and composed of 9 independent parts assembled on a threaded rod. Empire period work by Claude Galle.

Claude Galle (1759-1815), bronzeworker and foundry-engraver, received a master's degree in 1786 and was active on rue Vivienne, supplied the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne under Louis XVI but also and especially under the Empire. In particular, it makes deliveries to the châteaux of Trianons, Fontainebleau, Saint-Cloud, Compiègne and the Palais des Tuileries.

This model is distinguished by its sobriety as well as excellent quality of execution.

Good condition ; some slight deformations below. Original mercury gilding, well preserved with wear.
