A pair of Empire period gilt bronze candlesticks, finely chiseled with fish scales, mounted as lamps circa 1810

An elegant and decorative pair of candlesticks in finely chiseled bronze with period Mercure gilding. A very fine quality of execution for this magnificent carved decoration; on the base of roses and foliage; on the shaft of fish scales; and the upper part of stylized horns of plenty, palmettes, and fish scales.

Sizes: Height 10.82 Inches. - Diameter of the base 5.11 Inches.

Sizes with lampshades: H 20.47 Inches. - Diameter lamp shade 11.81 Inches.

In fine original condition, in their original Mercury gilding, which shows some wear in parts, but which is part of the charm of these collector's items. Electrification to European standards and possible upgrade to American standards.

These candlesticks have been mounted in lamps without drilling and are fitted with a pair of red and gold silk shades.

On request, we can also make custom-made shades in pleated silk.
