Rouen earthenware sprinkler Fabrique Guillibaud. Early 18th century. Cylindrical or truncated conical (oldest form, without pedestal), it is divided into two parts. The dome-shaped cover is screwed onto the body with a screw thread. The decoration is in blue and red with lambrequin and flower motifs, typical of Rouen production at this period. These are complemented by "chinoiserie" motifs on the dome, such as butterflies, as well as the squares that would later become the Guillibaud signature, notably on the rim of plates and dishes. The underside bears the GB blue mark. Note a small restoration to the dome.
