Dimensions: for the rooster, Height: 68 cm - for the hen, Height: 65 cm - bases: 32 cm
Couple of two larger-than-life subjects, rooster and hen in slip, polychrome glazed ceramic signed Paul Comoléra and produced by the Choisy-le-Roy – Hippolyte Boulenger factory in 1890.
Remarkable attitude of the rooster, dramatized and proud, tail in plume and rounded torso, the crested hen in a more maternal attitude is preparing to feed her chick, as evidenced by the worm she holds in her beak and the attitude of the little chick demanding its meal.
The whole, making a flower girl, is remarkable for the treatment of colors, the realism of the attitudes, the perfection of execution of the pieces. Note that the hens are very rare, relative to the number of roosters made at this time.
Both pieces are signed “P.COMOLERA”, each on their bases and marked with the seal of the earthenware factory.
