Manufacture of CREIL and MONTEREAU: Mythical “FLORA” model. Nineteenth century.
Part of a table service in fine white and blue earthenware decorated with bindweed including 45 pieces:
- 21 dinner plates (D. 22.5 cm).
- 12 soup plates (D. 23 cm).
- 1 covered tureen.
- 1 covered vegetable dish.
- 1 Large round dish.
- 1 Large round hollow dish.
- 1 oval dish.
- 4 Raviers.
- 2 gravy boats
- 1 standing cup
Flora LM & Cie stamp (for Lebeuf and Milliet) under the base, stamp in use during the period 1841-1876.
This decor was presented for the first time at the 1855 Universal Exhibition in Paris.
In very good used condition.

It was in 1840 that the two rival manufacturers Creil and Montereau (Lebeuf, Milliet et Cie) united.
The new factory won numerous prizes, a gold medal in 1864 and 1867 and nothing less than a citation in Flaubert’s Sentimental Education.
