Here we return to Frans Masereel's borrowed work, with two close-ups of women carrying jugs along a path. The technique is typical of this painter. It bears the initials FM, 1947.
Frans Masereel (1889-1972) was a Belgian engraver, painter and illustrator. He worked mainly in Switzerland, Germany and France. A committed artist, humanist, libertarian, pacifist and anti-militarist, marked by the bloody turmoil of the First World War, his works denounce without concession the horrors of war, oppression and social injustice. A prolific author, tireless illustrator and teacher.
The work is well preserved, with a protective tile (which may cause some distortion in the photos). However, we would like to point out some stains and foxing, wear, rubbing and scratches in the margins.
For condition, please detail the photos.
