    This large watercolor, enhanced with gouache, appears to depict a Mediterranean port. It is animated by numerous boats, sailing around anchored buildings with their sails folded. On the right, a steamer and a felucca cross the harbor. On the other side, several rowers in a rowboat are carrying a person sitting under a shelter at the stern. The hilly landscape surrounding the port and the buildings makes me think of the Bosphorus, but I can't be sure. It is framed by a marie-louise bearing the name J.F. Varre, a name for which we have found no information. There is a slight alteration of the watercolor, one centimeter wide on the right edge, and a fold in the upper left corner.
