    Signed lower right “Albert Sébille” followed by a naval anchor, the distinctive sign of official naval painters. First half of the 20th century

    Albert SÉBILLE is the son of Ernest Léopold Sébille, architect, and Eugénie Marie Richard.
    He is a student of Jean Léon Gérôme at the École des beaux-arts in Paris.
    He was appointed official painter of the Navy in 1906.
    He died in Paris on June 8, 1953.
