This watercolor on paper is from the 18th century, not from the whole period.
It is a scene in a port that one can imagine to be French.
We see two three-masted ships, people embarking, fishermen on the pontoon, a waterfall.
The watercolor has been opened to access the marking at the very top, but I read "View", I don't think it is a signature (photo 7).
The whole thing is in a carved gilded wooden frame.
There are traces on the watercolor as well as wear, friction and jumps in the gilding on the frame.
