    Original lithograph in colors printed on fine vellum. Printer's dry stamp at the bottom right of the plate. A superb French monthly publication, Les Maîtres de l'Affiche, appeared between 1895 and 1900 on the initiative of Jules Chéret.

    Jules Chéret (1836-1932) is an artist considered one of the pioneers of the modern illustrated poster. He played a crucial role in popularizing this means of artistic expression at the end of the 19th century. Chéret, often referred to as the "father of the poster", created many vibrant and colorful works that celebrated urban life and spectacles of the time. His series of publications, Les Maîtres de l'Affiche, brought together reproductions of some of the best posters of the era, by various artists, and helped elevate the status of the poster as a major art.
