Jean Jansem (1920-2013) was a French painter, draftsman, engraver and lithographer of Armenian origin. During numerous stays in Greece, Spain and Italy, he painted and drew from life, notably bullfighting, processions, markets, carnivals and studio scenes. At the same time, he produced lithographs and engravings related to his themes. His career became international. He exhibited in Italy, Switzerland, England and, above all, the United States. In 1969, the Mitsukoshi Gallery presented a retrospective of his work in Tokyo, and since then his work has been exhibited regularly in Japan.
